Downtown Development pushes out Artists?

L.A. Times: Living Gets Loftier in Downtown L.A.

"'...when you are an artist, you need larger spaces to work in, at a reasonable rent. Now, the rents are going up and the spaces aren't that big.'"

10 years from now, what will downtown's occupation demographics look like? What percent are artists now? What percent will they be tomorrow?

If i was a better blogger I'd know how to make that appear in picture form instead of a link, but anwyay... Hi Zach, this is Erin Haley - I'm an intern at the Arts Commission working with Sofia - I believe we met at the AEPI Progress report meeting in... October? Anywho, this billboard pic struck me as an entirely appropriate illustration to that Times article. I love how it hits up that "cool looking multi-ethnic artist" type, who can obviously afford the $300,000+ for a loft. Imagination not homogenization, right?
